Kettle Brand – Krinkle Cut Dill Pickle Potato Chips

We all develop some bad habits over our lifetimes, some which we outgrow, others which seem to only get worse. My borderline problematic addiction to very crunchy, hard chips is sort of spiraling out of control these recent years, so I figured I’d document it all on the internet where everything is forever. What could possibly go wrong?

Kettle is known for their kettle chips. Heck, it’s in the name. But not even they can resist the allure of wavy, or crinkle cut chips. While those of weaker constitution may tell you that crinkle cut chips aren’t great because they are too hard or too tough and risk jabbing you in the mouth, I argue they are simply being careless and treating the design similar to a soft, airy crisp. I personally prefer the heartier, thicker crunch that crinkle cut chips tend to offer. I also love thicker chips and more substantial crunch from my snacks, so I have high hopes for this crossover of kettle and crinkle. Dare I say, the crossover of the year? Ok maybe not but I’m pretty hyped either way.

I love the smell of dill in the morning.

Kettle’s “Krinkle Cut” is not something new or revolutionary. It’s been around for some time, just that I haven’t gotten around to talking about it or evaluating it seriously. That all changes today. Chips that are wavy or ruffled tend to already be crunchy or hard, so when you combine that with the hearty crunch of a kettle cooked chip, magical things can happen. Assuming you like hard chips that is.

These smell pretty standard for kettle chips – that oily fried potato smell that bring back memories of restaurant style chips with a dusting of dill pickle flavouring. Your mileage may vary, but I like that these aren’t too heavy handed with the salt or dill pickle flavouring. It’s more like they used a salt shaker to apply the seasoning then if they tried to coat it with powder. It lets the potato flavour take the lead and has a quality chip taste to it.

Got some real chonkers here.

The texture is what I love about these – they visually have the same thickness of the regular Kettle chips but they have a thicker, heartier crunch to them, as expected. These are the kind of chips where you feel like you’re actually eating something, and I can see a normal persons jaw getting tired from chewing after a few handfuls of this. I personally love that about these.

I definitely had more than just 13 chips…

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
