Reeseās Pieces With Caramel
Previously I tried the Reese’s Pieces with cookie, and I enjoyed it. I think part of it was the fact that the cookie itself wasn’t too sweet and so it was more of a texture play. Well, this one is with caramel, which is generally very sweet (sickly so) and the texture can vary. It can either be flowy and messy, or soft and chewy. I am assuming this one will be the latter based on the packaging. It might be ok if so, but I am going to this with extremely low expectations.
Truthfully I’m not sure why I still touch stuff with caramel, since my minds tongue can already taste it. Reese’s Pieces on it’s own is already pretty sweet, let’s be real. But if you add caramel to that without any offset, I am a bit hesitant. And yet, similar to dead cats, curiosity gets me every time. Sometimes I can overcome it, other times, well…here we are.
The flavour is sweet, let’s not mince words. But the components are still noticeable, namely that it’s the classic Reese’s peanut butter. The caramel is sweet as well, but has a more buttery, dairy note to it rather than just sweetness, which I can appreciate. Again, overall it’s quite sweet. The kind of sweet that I feel like my teeth and dentist would hate me if they found out.

The texture is not dissimilar to a normal Reese’s Pieces but in a spherical shape. The caramel on the inside is not quite chewy, and reminds me more of a piece of milk chocolate in texture than it does a typical block of caramel. It’s not sticky or chewy as you would expect, and it’s just sort of like a block of solid chocolate. The texture makes this more of a snack you just chew through rather than let it sit and melt in the mouth. That might be why these seem to be strangely addictive.

Oddly enough, I don’t like the caramel center, but I still find this someone hard to put down and stop eating. Something about these is addictive and I can only assume it’s all the sugar that has gone into this. Is it sweet? Yes. Is it disgustingly sweet? Somewhat yes. Is it sweet enough to give me pause? Sadly no. Ultimately though, I’m not sure I would get this again. There’s probably tastier ways to eat myself to death.
