Seattle Chocolate – Thank you! Truffle Bar
I’ve always been a sucker for novelty chocolate bars, and suffice to say this one caught my eye. Mostly because of the interesting art style that adorns it, but after reading that the bar is filled with cookie dough, I am intrigued. Especially when you consider how thin the bar is, it’s basically just slightly thicker than the usual solid block of chocolate that’s sectioned off and you break them off to eat. Sort of like Lindt which seems to be the most common one I can think of.
The bar looks like a solid block of chocolate, with some tiny flecks strewn about. It mostly just looks like a dark chocolate bar though. I’m still curious about the ratios, again because the bar is relatively thin and I don’t see how they could possibly fit that much into the centre.

Lo and behold, there is no center layer, but an even distribution throughout the bar. At the end of the day when you hold this bar in hand you get a good sense of how solid or thick it is, so the distribution is entirely expected. Having said that I get more vibes that this should be marketed as cookie dough rather than cookie.

Biting into it, it’s surprisingly soft, and while on the brittler side likely due to the cocoa content, it isn’t nearly as brittle as i was expecting. The chocolate is softer than I was expecting, and while not melty like a typical generic milk chocolate, it gives way to chew very easily and has a satisfying mouthfeel. The bits of salt, and what appears to be cacao nibs or bits of nuts give it a little extra crunch. Likely due to the butter added, but it has an almost cookie or brownie quality to it, where it has this smooth feel to it that you don’t get from chocolate normally. Again, this feels more like cookie dough rather than cookie. I don’t know that I would associate this with cookies, but cookie dough for sure.

The flavour is almost like a bar of semi-sweet chocolate with noticeable granules of salt, and has a rich baked flavour which again, likely comes from the butter. There’s also a generally similar flavour to an actual chocolate chip cookie, with notes of vanilla and sugar, and butter. Along with the texture it does a pretty solid job of making me crave some cookie dough ice cream.

I wasn’t expecting much going into this, especially after seeing what the bar looked like visually. But colour me surprised, it’s actually a pretty unique and tasty take on an uncommon flavour. Would I get this instead of an actual cookie? Probably not. Would I recommend this and buy this for friends? Absolutely. Would I stick a candle in it in lieu of an actual birthday cake? Now we’re asking the right questions!
