Snappers – Milk Chocolate Caramel & Pretzel Cluster

In another review I tried the dark chocolate variety of this very brand and snack, and tended to enjoy it so I figured why not try milk chocolate. Milk chocolate may appeal to more people, but personally I do prefer darker chocolates. I don’t know that this will be better than the dark chocolate one, since milk chocolate is usually sweeter and caramel already pulls it’s weight in that department, but it never hurts to try.

These bad boys are a giant hunk of chewy caramel, with a drizzle of milk chocolate on top and pretzels strewn about. The name is an obvious nod to the classic turtles chocolate, which is usually caramel and pecans dipped in chocolate. These are different because the chocolate is just a drizzle on top, and the pecans and substituted for pretzels. You can really tell that they are trying to put that caramel front and center, and that it’s the “centerpiece” of it all. Pun intended.

Maybe I’m crazy but these feel like they have more chocolate.

The pretzels are your usual salty, doughy affair and have a nice clean snap to it, which is a contrast to the chewy, albeit sticky caramel center. The chocolate doesn’t add too much in the way of texture, and feels like it’s mostly there for flavour. Really the centerpiece is the caramel, and the other ingredients added are there just to help it shine. Realistically the pretzels and chocolate are an easy combination to pull off, and you could probably do the same if you went the to grocery store. The caramel is where the spotlight is, and I will give them credit that they nailed it. It’s not too hard, not too sticky and compliments the pretzels quite well. There are some stray pieces of pretzel that have gone rogue, and eating them on their own I can confirm they are nothing special, and really do need that caramel to elevate to the next level.

Surprisingly easy to eat with no shrapnel stabbing or anything.

The flavour is exactly what you would expect if you took caramel, milk chocolate and pretzels and shoved it all in your gullet at the same time. Nothing about the flavours of the individual components is outstanding or unique, but the combination just works. I will say however, that the dark chocolate version of this is my general preference because it isn’t quite as sweet. This one is just fine, but dark chocolate just pairs better with caramel in my opinion.

I can see this being popular for fans of caramel of all ages. Whether the milk or dark is your preference, I get the sense that milk will usually be the more popular one, so I doubt you’ll have trouble finding this. If you like caramel and chocolate, this is a no-brainer and you should go try it for yourself. Just maybe don’t tell your dentist about it.

About as much caloric content as a cookie.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
