Tirol Chocolate – Winter Party Mix

Have I mentioned before how much I love Christmas? Yeah, I probably have quite a few times already. I am a winter baby, and add on the fact that it’s basically Christmas season for a few months, it really does make the heart flutter a little. Could also be due to all the junk I stuff in my gullet during that time, but it’s magical all the same.

An interesting distribution.

This hefty pouch has 27 pieces in total. While the distribution between flavours isn’t even, there’s enough for everyone. In total there are five different flavours – caramel coffee, strawberry marshmallow, white biscuit, milk chocolate and crunchy strawberry.

And first up is…

Milk chocolate is marketed at soft type. It even has the distinct Tirol mochi mascot on the wrapper, so I was misled into believing there would be mochi somewhere here. But alas, it’s just a solid block of milk chocolate.

I was somehow expecting more.

While not bad, it’s nothing special and kind of disappointing. I feel lied to.

You can tell this one is just for winter.

White Biscuit comes in a colour wrapper with three different colours. The only commonality is they all have a white chocolate shell, and a chocolate biscuit in the centre. They also have a mischievous looking snowman on them, so that’s always fun.

Not quite as centered as I would like.

What’s interesting about this piece is that unlike the typical pattern, these have a cute little snowflake on the top. The flavour is typical white chocolate, with a sweet chocolate biscuit in the centre. These remind of the white chocolate Pocky I had as a kid. Not bad but a bit on the sweet side, but that’s to be expected from white chocolate.

I know this smell…

Strawberry marshmallow is a flavour that has been done quite often by Tirol, and they do it quite well. The marshmallow centre is soft and airy and disappears quite quickly.

Some things are a classic for a reason.

It’s got a nice complimentary texture with the strawberry jelly inside, and the whole thing comes together to deliver a decent flavour punch with a clean finish in the texture.

Is now too late to mention I don’t like coffee?

Caramel coffee is a little different form their usual coffee nougat flavour in their standard line up. This one has a firm chocolate texture throughout, but the centre has a small layer of coffee flavoured caramel type liquid that hits you real hard with coffee.

Still pretty well executed though.

If you like coffee flavour than this will be a winner. I enjoyed it, despite not being a coffee fan.

Similar to one’s inner turmoil, this one’s all over the place.

While not new to me, this is new the the usual winter line up and is the one I wish they had more of. This is basically like if they took strawberry milk chocolate, mixed it with some corn flakes or waffle bits, and made it into a chocolate block.

It’s like eating a tasty cereal bar.

It has just the right amount of crunch, the perfect amount of strawberry and overall just great execution. This one is a clear winner. Unless you hate strawberries. In which case why are you here, monster?!

As is customary with any ranking, I must force upon you my official tier list:

  1. Crunchy Strawberry
  2. Strawberry Marshmallow
  3. Caramel Coffee
  4. White Biscuit
  5. Soft Type milk chocolate
I’m rich with chocolate.

So there you have it. Would I do this again? Only if I could share this. This is definitely more fun to share with others and enjoy together, than it is to sit alone in your room to just eat all 27 pieces. Not that I did or would ever do that. Anyways…winter is here!

Quite a hefty sum, but it’s holiday season so whatever!

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
