Milka – Raspberry Creme

I haven’t had Milka before, but based on the packaging and the fact that it’s owned by the same company that runs Cadbury, I’d assumed it’s not that different from the other purple packaged chocolate. It also struck me as a chocolate that is geared more towards a younger audience, though that could just be me being old and lame.

The first thing that hits me is a very strong, fragrant and sweet raspberry smell. It reminds me of something from my childhood, like some sort of raspberry candy. The more I think about it the more I think about some sort of super sweet soda I enjoyed as a kid. Maybe it’s that nostalgia that’s triggering my mouth to salivate a little at the smell…

It basically looks like Cadbury.

The flavour of the raspberry creme tastes almost exactly as it smells, very fragrant, sweet and tasty. It’s quite sweet, but something primal in me is triggered and I can’t stop myself. The chocolate itself is pretty generic stuff, so nothing to write home about. It does strike me as being a bit more on the sweet side. The raspberry flavour also strikes me as being noticeably artificial, not because the flavour itself is very strong and vibrant, but the aftertaste lingers for a long time which is more common in artificial flavours than more natural ones.

Let the raspberry jam flow.

The texture is pretty typical generic mass market chocolate – it’s melty and easy to bite through. Something that surprised me was how flowy and . The creme filling inside is also accompanied by a syrupy raspberry filling which is quite stick and flows out very easily. Be warned this can get messy. The syrup is very flowy but the creme itself is only slightly softer than the chocolate, which is quite soft to begin with.

Overall this is a pleasant snacking experience, but one which I will definitely regret later on once the initial high is gone. It’s one the sweeter side and looking at that nutrition label is honestly kind of depressing. I’m not sure I would get this for myself again, but not because I didn’t enjoy it. It’s because it was a little too easy to enjoy that these are dangerous. Sharing may be a better way to go with these. To my earlier point about it being targeted at kids, I think the combination of the flavour being very sweet and strong also tends to be more geared towards the young ens. Gotta get em hooked while they’re still young, right chocolate companies?

It’s good of them to include a piece conversion chart.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
