Leclerc – Summertime Cookies – Raspberry Lemonade
This is one of three flavours that Leclerc is doing for a limited time summer fruit cremes. As I had mentioned not long ago, these bring back a lot of pleasant memories of childhood. This flavour in particular is probably closest to the flavour we tend to get all year round, which is the raspberry jelly with vanilla creme. While it’s understandable why that flavour alone has managed to withstand the test of time, I can’t help but miss some of the other flavours that were less appreciated. Flavours like key lime or lemon creme were in my opinion just as good.
The cookie has a lemon flavour to it, though mild. The creme is raspberry, as is the jelly in the centre. While officially the creme is raspberry, I taste a distinct lemon zing to it so I am going to assume it’s a combo. The jelly is a delightful raspberry flavoured jelly that is both sweet and floral, but mostly sweet. Truthfully nothing that strays too far from the classic, but maybe that’s a good thing.

As far as these summertime cookies go, this one is closest to the original fruit cremes. The main difference is the addition of lemon which is a welcome one, as it adds some brightness and tart to the otherwise straightforwardly sweet cookie. This is certainly one of those classic examples of something being greater than the sum of its parts. Adding a bit of lemon flavour elevates this beyond any flavour of raspberry or lemon alone would. I approve.

Similar to the watermelon cookies, the texture of these is quite crumbly, and a bit messy to eat. They will leave crumbs everywhere if you aren’t careful, but they are by no means dry. They have a nice crumble to them like a butter cookie, and have a nice, gooey sticky jelly center to top things off. The only difference to the watermelon cookies is the flavour.

This flavour is a nice little twist on the classic raspberry, but in a good way. The extra tartness adds a nice zip to the flavour that brightens it up, and makes me even more nostalgic and sad it’s not a staple flavour. I hope these come back in some way shape or form because I would definitely get these again.
