Nobel Sours Gummy Candy – Cola Turtles

When I think of turtle shaped candy, I think of something more akin to chocolate and pecans, so it’s always refreshing to see other formats for the animal. Turtles have a sense of serene, peaceful tranquility to them, which makes it all the more stranger that I enjoy eating snacks with their likeness.

These are not sour. It kind of amazes me that their website is literally branded as SOURS. They barely even tingle. They are sweet gummies through and through, and you can’t convince me otherwise. The flavour is definitely cola, but a very artificial, almost bubble gum flavour of cola. It’s like a combination of cola and ramune mashed into one. It tastes kind of like cola, but off for a reason and I’m guessing it’s how they flavoured it. The after taste clings to you and has a very artificial taste to it that is a bit off putting. If you can get past that these are actually quite tasty, but unfortunately I can’t so that’s a strike against it.

A light dusting of snow.

Texture is fairly soft gummy once you get paste that initial bite. It’s quite chewy afterward for a little while, but it’s not too hard and not too soft, so that’s a plus. The texture is part way through a fruit jelly and a firm, hard boiled gummy. I guess the thickness of the gummy due to the shape also helps give it a bit of chewy firmness which I can appreciate. Even if I do feel a little guilty for biting through their tiny shells.

Not much going on inside.

The nicest thing I can say about these is that they smell very nice, and are very cute. If it wasn’t dusted in so much sugar and powder, I’d be tempted to play with these cute little turtle fellas. They are quite the thicc turtles too, I might add. That’s about it for the nice things. There’s a lot that these leave to be desired. I can see why some may like this, in particular kids because of the fun shapes. I just don’t think these are for me and would be something I would opt for.

154 calories for the pouch. Not bad, but not worth it.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
