Ritter Sport – White Corn Flakes

Sometimes I see a flavour and think, wait have they not done this before? And truthfully in this case, I’m not sure when they decided to do this. All I know is I’m only just noticing it. I mean it makes sense – if they can do milk, dark and white chocolate varieties of all their other filled bars like the hazelnut and almond bars, why not with corn flakes?

One of Ritter Sports more popular bars is the corn flakes bar. It might sound a bit strange to anyone who hasn’t tried it, but if you think about it on a deeper level, it makes sense. The contrast of the block chocolate to the crunchy pieces of corn flakes makes for a very bingeable bar that is much loved. I am not the biggest fan of the combination, but even I have to admit it’s a pretty winning combination that has a lot going for it. It has my begrudging respect. By which I mean I still buy it and think “ugh why does this work…”.

The flakes are trying to escape.

My German is a bit lacking, but I feel like based on context the name implies white and crispy. That would be a pretty straight forward and apt description of what this bar is. It’s basically the tried and true formula of corn flakes and chocolate, except this time around it’s white chocolate instead of milk. While I’m not a huge fan of white chocolate, I do appreciate the balance that Ritter Sport gets with their white chocolate. While still sweet, it’s not too sweet and it’s got a flavour and usually pairs well with things. In my experience they pair well with things like nuts and the like. Let’s see if that holds true for corn flakes.

They don’t skimp on the corn flakes.

So the texture is very similar to the milk chocolate flavour – it’s got a decent crunch that’s matched with the somewhat soft, melty chocolate. The contrast between the delicate corn flakes and the firm chocolate is what makes these so snackable. I’m kind of reminded of those chocolate dipped granola bars. The only downside is the corn flakes get kind of stuck in between your teeth. Also kind of like granola bars.

The flavour is basically overwhelming white chocolate. Corn flakes seem to be the unsweetened ones, so most of the flavour and sweetness is from white chocolate. The corn flakes remind me of the cereal, so imagine eating a mouthful of white chocolate and sprinkling corn flakes cereal on it.

535 for the whole bar is not THAT bad. Just one less burger.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
