Rogers’ Chocolate – Dark & White Chocolate Covered Blueberries

I’ve noticed an uptick in chocolate covered fruits. It seems the new trend takes it a bit farther and now there’s freeze dried fruit that’s covered in chocolate. I guess enough people do not find it enjoyable to have a typical, squishy dried fruit as a center and wanted to find a way to make it crunchy. Freeze drying is one way I guess. But for me sometimes the old ways still work well enough. While I wouldn’t call this traditional by any means, this combo of fruit and chocolate relies on the classic way.

The first thing I feel the need to mention is that these are very visually pleasing to look at. And smell. Not surprising given that blueberry flavour and colour tends to translate well in chocolate and candy.

These look more like gum balls than chocolates.

These bluebs are what can only be described as flavourful – the smell carries over into the taste with a very strong, aromatic blueberry punch to them, both from the chocolate layer as well as the blueberry center itself. Being that they are actual dried blueberries inside, it packs a nice sweet, slightly tart, but very strong blueberry flavour the entire way through. The chocolate shell is a combination of dark and white chocolate, and also some blueberry flavour. The combination of the three works well, and if it was just the chocolate shell on it’s own I wouldn’t mind. But the key here is the blueberries themselves, which are also very flavourful and sure to please any berry fans.

These smell positively divine.

The texture is the contrast of the thick chocolate outer shell against the soft, chewy dried blueberry center. one thing that sometimes throws people off when having real fruit covered by chocolate is that fruits tend to be squishier whereas nuts are hard and crunchy. I think we all know that, it’s just that some of us are so used to chocolate covered things being nuts that any deviation from that can be jarring at first.

These bad boys have layers.

But once that jarring transition in the brain is over and done with, you are left with some tasty, flavourful berries. I really enjoyed these, and I would get these again. This is another example of quality over quantity, as these are definitely premium priced. Having said that I would still consider these worth it and an easy candidate for the repeat purchase list.

The variance in size makes it hard to tell how many 15 is.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
