Seattle Chocolate – Peanut Buddy Crisp Truffle Bar

Seattle Chocolate is something I am well and familiar with, and I’ve had quite a few of their flavours at this point. Some are hits, some are misses, so overall I’d say it’s a brand I would follow, but wouldn’t say I like enough to be paying full price. When it’s on sale though…all bets are off. Especially with a flavour that sounds enticing in concept and name.

This is a truffle bar with peanut butter in the center with bits of rice in a milk chocolate shell. It’s like combining a Reese’s with a Crunch bar. If that sounds enticing, then join the club because I feel like that’s right up my alley. It’s hard to go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter, and it’s hard to go wrong with bits of toasted milk in a milk chocolate shell. Now I’m kind of curious why no one else has tried this combo. Is it a cost thing?

What secrets do you hide?

The milk chocolate is very melty, even at normal room temp. The creamy milk chocolate is only beaten by the peanut butter center from creaminess, and it all goes down real nice and smooth. There’s really small bits of peanut in the peanut butter, but the texture is mostly a smooth creamy experience contrasted against the ever so slight airy crunch of the rice bits. Think Crunch bar but with way less little bits of rice. Not enough to change the texture completely, but enough to keep things interesting. It actually reminds me a bit of the old Reese’s cups where your hands get real dirty real fast just from holding it in anything above freezing temps.

A truly no frills temper.

The flavour is a good combination of chocolate and peanut butter, with the peanut butter being ever so slightly salty. The peanut butter itself is a pretty smooth, standard flavour and like most varieties, is a hard thing to screw up. The overall flavour does remind me of a Reese’s but no one can quite match the flavour of one of those bad boys. This is pretty good though.

It’s hard to tell if anything is amiss.

I have had quite a few of the bars from Seattle Chocolate at this point, and I can confidently say this is one of their better ones. I can only assume others feel the same way since they also sell this in actual truffle format as well, so surely there’s a big enough market for it.

380 for a bar is par for the course.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
