Snickers – Peanut Brownie Squares

Brownies are one of those snacks where theoretically I always want – if you ask me if I like brownies I will say yes and my mouth might even water a little. But most times I wouldn’t actually act on it, largely because I have to be in the right mood. They are generally quite rich and heavy, so it’s honestly quite a commitment to consume them, unlike something lighter like say, a handful of chips or a few blocks of chocolate.

I guess I’m not the only one who feels that way, because Snickers decided to break things up here. Each pack comes with 2 squares. Brownie squares is honestly not how I saw this day going, but here we are. Snickers is trying everything these days. The squares are a decent size where it’s not too big where I feel daunted by consuming an entire thing, but not too small where I feel like it’s counter to the point of a brownie.

A decent size.

There’s a layer of caramel on the top, and the rest of the peanut butter brownie. There’s not much in the way of peanuts here, just one or two, but enough to add a little extra crunch. The crunch while mild, is still enough to mix things up from just being a soft, sticky mess. The texture is similar to a normal snickers, but a little more dense. The middle is slightly fudgy, with the chewy caramel on top and some peanuts to give it an ever so slight crunch to it.

That is one lonely peanut.

The flavour is pretty much a standard snickers, and instead of the fluffy nougat they use a brownie center which has a bit of peanut butter flavour to it, but not much. Overall I find the flavour to be overly sweet, but it could be that I’ve just outgrown the Snickers experience and find it too sweet. I suspect the an actual Snickers bar these days is just as, if not sweeter than this.

So where does that leave us? I tend to want a brownie when I want something substantial to make me feel sated. This has done that in spades, but it was also a bit on the sweeter side than what I prefer these days. While purely preference, I think if it was a bit less sweet this would be something I could consider getting again. As is though, if it’s around the same price as a Snickers bar I’d rather just get that.

Man, I feel so fat right now.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
