Tirol Chocolate – Puré Lemon

Curiosity is the only thing that drove me to try this. Citrus and chocolate can sometimes be a good combination, but I have my doubts on this piece. Lemon flavoured chocolates alone are already kind iffy for me, but if it has a gummy inside then it has piqued my interested and triggered my “add to cart” response. Tirol has disappointed me a few times yes, but when you have a long relationship with a brand, there are bound to be some ups and downs. Fingers crossed this is more of an up than a down, but I go into this with tempered expectations.

For a bit of context, Puré is a product line of gummies that tout it’s purity by being made from 100% fruit puree which in my experience doesn’t do great in taffy, but does great in flavour gummies. Based on my past experience, I can indeed say that Puré is indeed a tasty line of gummies, regardless of the marketing speak. How it pairs with Tirol is what got me interested in this, and again, curiosity triggers the impulsiveness in me. Truly, it makes me do some silly, terrible things sometimes.

Wonder how they decided on this pattern.

This chocolate is very lemony, and very tart. So much so that I get a little sour sweat going on. You know how some people feel heat from spicy foods? I get that with super sour or tart foods too. This one is triggering it a fair bit – the flavour is very lemony, and very tart. My face is puckering a little bit, and my scalp is getting a little hot from the tartness. This is quite intense. I’m not sure how strong the actual gummies are as the standalone product, but the ones sandwiched in the middle here are pucker inducing, and make me a little curious to try them.

A decent ratio of gummy to chocolate.

The gummy centre is very firm, and requires some jaw strength to get through, just the way I like it. Much like their other gummies, this has a firm bite to it that honestly surprised me a bit. You wouldn’t think a super firm or hard gummy would work well inside of a chocolate, but this kind of pulls it off. It’s a bit jarring at first, but it’s a welcome surprise to be sure.

If you like strong lemon flavour, this will be your jam. Or preserve? Marmalade? Either way, if you like lemon, you’ll like this. I don’t particularly like lemons, but I happen to enjoy chocolate, and I like strong, firm wom-er….gummies, so this is a welcome change for me despite that.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
