Tirol Chocolate – White Vanilla Mochi

I’ve gotten into this weird conditioned response with certain products or brands where if I see a new release, all logic goes out the window and I start throwing my wallet at it. If I see a flavour from Tirol that has mochi in it in some way shape or form, I will get it. Well, I guess I do that with almost all Tirol flavours anyways, but mochi ones area higher priority.

As I often say, the bigger pieces have more room to work with so they can get more creative. The price is also slightly higher so they have more wiggle room when it comes to what they use. I have usually found the bigger pieces to be superior to the smaller ones in terms of texture, though the chocolate quality itself is usually the same.

I honestly don’t know what sets this apart from white chocolate mochi, but I saw these were the bigger pieces and I’ve always found them to be good so here we are. I’ve said this before, but I find the bigger pieces have more room to work with, and the ingredients usually come together better to make a more tasty chocolate overall.

Looks kind of boring, honestly.

The flavour is very much white chocolate, though I guess I could see how it would be vanilla since it does remind me a bit of vanilla ice cream, so I guess there’s that. Truthfully I don’t imagine most people will be able to taste the difference, or even care. It’s close enough that if you enjoy that general flavour profile, you’ll like this. The one thing I’ll say is that a lot of cheaper white chocolates basically just taste like sugar and milk, whereas this has a slight vanilla finish to it, but again almost invisible to the minds tongue.

A nice smattering of chewy mochi.

The texture is definitely more mochi like than the standard smaller pieces. The mochi on the inside is a little less gummy, a little more gooey and reminds me of of a fresh mochi. It’s not as bouncy, but has a nice, smooth, almost melty give to it. I enjoy both styles that Tirol does, but if I had to pick one I’d go with this one. It’s one of the few situations where I prefer something softer and gooier than something firm.

I don’t generally opt for white chocolate, but I do opt for mochi so whether or not I get this again will depend on my mood. If there’s another mochi flavour nearby though, I’ll probably prioritize that over this one though. But again, your mileage may vary.

Big in size and calories.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
