Lotte – Apple Brandy Chocolate

I am someone who likes to try most things at least once, especially when they come from a brand that’s well established or one that I’ve had a positive experience with before. Lotte is both of those things, so this new product is not a real risk to me. It’s just pricier, and I have faith they can pull off a premium priced product.

These are fancily packed – each “bar” has three sections that can be broken off, but aren’t clearly separated. They don’t quite snap apart, but break apart easily enough without leaving behind too much of a mess. Just a little, not a lot. I like to think that makes these easily shareable. It could also be that they don’t want you to eat a whole thing of chocolate in one sitting. I’m going to go with the former, as the latter is something I go against a little too often.

One pack is quite the chonker.

The inside is very soft, an almost mousse like texture. There are tiny bits of apple that aren’t particularly hard or soft, just like a really small apple slice that’s been diced into smaller, tiny cubes. They don’t really distract from the general texture though, which is very soft and almost airy. It actually reminds me a bit of a really, really moist brownie. Except with any dough or residue that they usually leave behind. It’s also not too rich so I don’t need a cup of milk after.

Three parts to each pack.

The flavour is a rich, complex apple and slightly alcoholic flavour. The apple is sort of an after thought, as the chocolate mousse and alcohol mix together to give a very flavourful combination that only leaves a hint of after taste of apple. I’m not a huge fan of alcohol, especially the hard stuff like brandy, but when the alcohol is cooked out it leaves behind a very sweet, aromatic flavour. It’s kind of good that there’s not too many of these in a pack because I would demolish these. Like most premium products, these are made to enjoy in small quantities, and cherish. Unlike the typical chocolate you just put back like a beast.

The apple bits peaking out.

I would definitely get these again. They certainly live up to the premium marketing, as these taste pretty fancy and are rich in flavour and texture, so you can’t have too many in a sitting anyways. These would be great as a premium snack, especially sharing with a special someone. Or two.

Calories aren’t too bad.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
