Mintia Breeze – Strawberry

My idea of what constitutes a mint may be very different from what others consider a mint. This would largely be due to the fact that brands that are known for mints make mint-adjacent candies and they are close enough that I play loose with the definition.

Probably the best example of this in action is Mintia – while they are supposed to be mints, some of the flavours are so fruity and tasty you would be forgiven for not remembering that at the bottom of it all they are still technically a mint. Technically because that’s how they sell it. Realistically though it’s more like a fruit flavoured tablet with a minty fresh after taste.

Much like the other big tablets, these have 30 tablets in a container. Being the bigger sized tablets, these are marketed as being a longer lasting mint, taking up to 5 minutes to dissolve completely. Maybe I’m just a slobbery dude, but I finish most of mine in three minutes at best. And it’s always hard to fight back to the urge to bite the tablet once it gets small enough. I’m sure you know exactly what I’m referring to.

As with most Mintia flavours, these are very smelly, but in the good way. Just opening it, the unmistakable aroma of that strawberry coats your nose in an almost suffocating aroma of fruity, floral berry. You could probably use these as an air freshener for a few days before the smell starts to dissipate.

If someone smelled like this consistently, I’d want to be around them often.

The flavour isn’t too far off either – the best way to describe it is to simply call it what it is, that signature artificial strawberry flavour. I for one love it, and it should come as no surprise I love these. It has the right amount of sweetness, tartness and floral flavour notes to it. It’s also kind of reminding me of strawberry ice cream for some reason.

Texture is somewhat similar to a slow dissolving tablet – after leaving it on your tongue for a while, it starts to dissolve and what can only be describe as layers begin to come off. It’s not meant for chewing, so it performs best if you let it sit on your tongue and let it give you a minute or two of strawberry bliss.

Mintia has done a good job in my books so far, and this may be my second favourite flavour. I say second because I’ve yet to find a flavour that beats the grape flavours, but this is a great alternative and if this was the only one available, I wouldn’t mind.

76 calories for the whole thing doesn’t seem so bad.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
