Trolli – Sour Brite Crawlers

I’ve always been a Haribo man through and through. That being said, Trolli does tend to do colourful gummies that are distinct and different enough from Haribo that they catch my eyes on occasion. Though to be quite honest, as famous as their Sour Brite Crawlers are, the name is just a fancy way of saying gummy worms.

Trolli has three flavours in this pack – cherry lemon, strawberry grape, and orange lime. It seems pretty textbook as far as gummy worm flavours go. The one good thing about it being so standard is it makes it easier to compare to other brands, if that matters at all.

The flavours are honestly kind of disappointing. By that I mean they are very generic and artificial, basically what I remember from my childhood days when I spent a lot of time eating lollipops. They have that same Also while there’s a little, tiny bit of sourness to these, the coating is the type that leaves an unpleasant sensation and aftertaste in the mouth, so also not a big fan of that. The orange flavour in particular is giving me some not-so-great flashbacks to a simpler time, but in a bad way. I feel like I’ve had better experiences with generic or off brand gummy worms, and I wonder if it’s because of the way they do the flavour combinations. Some of these flavours tend to clash a bit, so it certainly isn’t helping.

They look fun.

The texture is quite soft. Too soft for my liking, if I’m being totally honest. It’s not quite the level of generic gummy soft, but it’s soft enough I feel like I don’t need to chew very hard to tear these worms a new head. That might be fine for some people, but I prefer something chewier or firmer. Otherwise it feels too much like I’m just eating a jello, which I’m not too fond of.

Too soft for my liking.

I can see kids enjoying this, which I think is the main demographic, but I’m not sure I would let my kids have these. I’d rather just go with something tastier if I’m going to give them something sugary and dangerous. Overall, I have a hard time distinguishing these from typical generic brand gummy worms to the point where I wonder if they are made in the same factory as Trolli. That isn’t to say that’s a bad thing, but it’s more that if there’s no difference why opt for the more expensive Trolli branded product?

Not sure theses are worth it.

zbearviking

From the frigid, majestic North (Canada), hails a creature like no other. Is it a bear that took up viking-ing? Or a viking that turned into a bear? Perhaps it is beyond human comprehension what the creature truly is, much like Bigfoot or Nessie. What we do know, is that much like everything else in the universe, it is made of star stuff.
